This shoot was a first for me on a number of levels.  It was a first of shooting another male in his underwear it was a first shoot with a professional body builder.  Justin Draper and I went to College together back in 2001 and 2002 at Buffalo State College.  We lost touch over the years as it is easy to do and recently began talking about collaborating on a project.  Here is a few

This photograph was a mixture of time lapse and painting with light.  Lucky for me the cars on the road provided me with some of the light to make this 4 minute exposure possible. Enjoy.

My car had been giving me issues so the nearest place I could have it serviced was Rochester.  I decided while I waited for my car I would meet up with a friend of mine and do a day of photographs…. Rochester style.

After a long couple of months with a million projects pulling me a million different directions I finally feel a bit recharged and ready to to start blogging more frequently.  The picture I will share with you is of recent high school senior session.  I don’t go for the traditional cookie cut style shots. So everyday we all get into our cars and we travel to work.  Many of us pass the same sights and sounds everyday.  How often do we really notice those things?   I drive the same route everyday, and I will admit there are days I don’t really pay attention. On my recent vacation to myrtle beach I took my annual trip to the beach to once again be amazed by the extraordinary sunrise that it provides.  I was asked recently “Jason why do you continue to shoot photographs at the beach?  when you’ve seen one beach you’ve seen them all”.  As strange as it is each time that I’ve gone to the beach the photographs have all produced striking differences.   I

So it had been 372 year since the earth had its last full lunar eclipse and I decided that I wasn’t going to miss this one.  After all it could be a once in a lifetime sight.  So staying up till 2:30 am and dressing in layers I set the Tripod in the front lawn and waited for the clouds to clear. So Last weekend I decided to take the kids on their very first train ride. I hadn’t been on that train since I was 5 years old. Watching the excitement on their faces was something I will never forget.  The photo I am posting is of the Train engineer looking onward out the window at the vast farmland that lye ahead.

Spur of the moment photo shoot that took on a life of its own.. Sometimes as a photographer you really have to learn to trust your gut and just stay the course.  This shoot was a prime example of that very thing.

Once a year the small rural town of Wellsville celebrates the Great Wellsville Balloon Rally.  It’s a great time for everyone to come out and enjoy the different venders as well as watch the excitement in the children’s eyes as they watch in amazement.  So many times it difficult to capture exactly what your looking for. sometimes the trick in photography is to take something that is ordinary and make extrordinary. Here is a photo that I took at 11:30 at night of my car. the only light source that I used was that of the dome light inside the car.  I like the way it came out, hope you enjoy it as well.

This weeks project was a new photo technique that involved painting with light. the basic idea is you start in complete darkness, start your exposure and then paint the subject with a light source in the areas that you wish it to be seen. so here is attempt number one. enjoy

Well this week's project was unexpected, as I prepared for a bridal show all week long it became clear how hard it was going to be to get in a shoot. I went to my daughter Halle's dance recital and of course I brought my camera. I was shooting different acts before hers so that I could get the settings just right. Living in western new york in the winter time means its dark early in the morning and dark early at night.  A lot of photographers put the camera away when the sun goes down.  I on the other hand feel the night is an amazing template of possibilities.  here are a few pics from tonight.

As promised !!!  a new week and sure enough NEW IMAGES!!!! I am finding myself more and more attracted to using natural light opposed to using a flash.  A good enviroment to shoot in is just as important as the subject in my mind.
